Practicing the Letter (o)

Practice the letter (o) and its mātrā (o). Some of the examples below are Hindi words, and some are transliterations of English words.

The first two words illustrate the similarity in appearance between the first forms of (a) and (o). Remember that (ā) appears very similar, also. Their mātrās are also similar: keep in mind the difference between (ā) and (o).

Take note of the letter स्त (st). This is a conjunct, combining the letters (sa) and (ta). The fact that they are combined means that there is no inherent a sound between these consonants.
