Practicing the Letter (sa)

Now that you know the letter (sa) we can practice with some Hindi words. Again, it doesn't matter if you don't know Hindi; you should have no problem determining how these words are pronounced.

Now that you've learned many of the rules that govern the pronunciation of Hindi words, pronouncing the words above should be straightforward.

Keep in mind that the first word, साका, ends with the ā sound, because it explicitly ends with the vowel ा. Otherwise the last syllable would usually not receive a vowel sound, such as the second word, which ends with the s sound.

Also remember the difference between the sounds of the first forms of (a) and (ā) as illustrated by the last two words.
