The first two words illustrate the similarity in appearance between the first forms of
, "a," and
, "o."
Remember that
, "aa," appears very similar, also. Their maatraas are also
similar: keep in mind the difference between
, "aa," and
, "o."
Take note of the letter
, "st." This is a conjunct,
combining the letters
,
"sa," and
, "ta." The fact that they are combined means that there is no
inherent, "a" sound between these consonants.
